Situated in the delightful village of Patterdale, and surrounded by some of Lakeland's most magnificent scenery, The Old Water View Hotel has been welcoming visitors for over 100 years.
Patterdale is a small village, nestling at the southern end of Lake Ullswater, and surrounded by some of Lakeland’s finest scenery. It’s a peaceful, unspoilt village, away from the busy tourist centres, and yet within easy reach of them, with most buildings being constructed from local slate. The village has a pub and a village store and post office. You can also enjoy Farm Experience Days at the local Crookabeck Farm.
Situated directly on the route of the world famous “Coast to Coast” walk, Patterdale also has strong associations with the poet William Wordsworth. It was here, in Patterdale, that he got the inspiration for perhaps his most well known poem -
You will find Patterdale is a village where time seems to have stood still, and we even retain our original Victorian post box in the village! Patterdale is the perfect place from which to enjoy some of the the best walking and climbing that the Lake District has to offer, and to sample some of the hospitality for which the area is rightly famous.
The world famous Ullswater Steamers sail from all year round from Glenridding, 1 mile away, and visitors can enjoy a leisurely cruise, perhaps with a gentle stroll back along the lakeside.
Glenridding is also home to several pubs, shops and cafes, as well as the Ullswater Tourist Information centre. There is also the Ullswater Garage, which sells fuel, has shop selling everything from logs to fishing bait, and also an excellent repair centre.
Just 5 minutes from Old Water View to the north lies England’s most beautiful lake, Ullswater. As well as a trip on the Steamers, Ullswater is ideal for sailing, kayaking, canoeing and even swimming. Please click the link for more information on things to do around Ullswater.
